Care Worker Panel Member Opportunity
We are looking for Care Worker to join our Care Worker Panel. In this role you will work alongside researchers to ensure that the voices and experiences of people who receive care at home, and those who support them are central to our research study.
What experiences Panel Members need?
We welcome applications from people who:
- Employed or previously employed by a care agency and regularly delivering medicines support to older people.
- Have experience of communicating with homecare staff, homecare patients, healthcare professionals, pharmacies, or other services about medicines.
- We are particularly keen to hear from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
About the Study
The SAfe-Home-Meds Study (SAHMS) is a research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The study aims to improve the safety of medicines management for older people receiving care at home by developing a Medicines Safety System that is practical, effective, and informed by the experiences of people who use homecare services and their families.
Panel members will help us:
- Review study materials such as participant information sheets and interview guides.
- Advise on recruitment approaches and how best to engage participants.
- Share views on issues affecting medicines management and safety in homecare.
- Help us understand whether our findings reflect real-life experiences.
- Provide feedback on proposed solutions and recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of a Medicines Safety System designed to improve safety in homecare.
- You do not need any research experience. We are interested in your experiences, perspectives, and ideas.
What commitment is involved?
The Care Worker Panel will meet approximately once a month from July 2026 onwards and meetings will:
- Be for a period of 1 hour.
- Be held online via Microsoft Teams (support can be provided if needed).
- Occasionally involve reviewing documents between meetings.
- Run throughout the project, although members can discuss their level of involvement with the research team.
- We understand that health, caring responsibilities, and other commitments can change, and we will work flexibly with panel members.

Payment and Expenses
Panel members will be remunerated for their time in line with NIHR public involvement guidance. This will be £27.50 per hour
